The course was designed by Brian Curley and Fred Couples. The club calls it a par 70/72 with real elevation changes and views out over Rancho Santa Fe and the San Dieguito River Valley. The club is managed by Troon Privé and full golf members can also play other Troon-managed clubs.

Off the course there's a fitness center with group classes and personal trainers, tennis and pickleball courts and a 25-yard pool the club heats to 81 degrees all year. Dining runs from the member dining room and bar to a casual grill with patio seating, a poolside grill and a halfway house on the course, plus a dining deck above the 18th hole. Members' kids have camps and Friday night kids' care.

Sold in the last twelve months: 21 homes. The median sale was $3,100,000 or $766 a square foot. Prices ran from $2,300,000 to $5,500,000. The median home spent 48 days on the market. The homes that sold ranged from just under 3,000 to almost 7,800 square feet with three to six bedrooms. All were single-family homes built between 2002 and 2014.

On the market today: 7 homes for sale and 2 more under contract. The median asking price is $3,850,000 or $779 a square foot. Asking prices run from $2,875,000 to $5,885,000 and the homes have been listed for a median of 37 days.

The Crosby Club offers six kinds of membership. Golf members get the course, the range, carts, bag storage and lockers along with everything the athletic members have. Athletic members get the fitness center, classes, the pool and spa, the courts and all the dining, plus eight tee times a year at a reduced rate. Social members get the dining room, lounge, bar and member events. Every membership covers the member's spouse or significant other and dependents 23 and younger. The Family Legacy membership works differently and can add parents, grandparents, adult children and grandchildren.

Initiation fees are non-refundable. National Golf is for members whose primary home is at least 100 miles from the club.

The Crosby Estate at Rancho Santa Fe Master Association runs the community and the club is run separately. The association lists 70 villas, 281 semi-custom homes and 70 custom homesites. Its entrance gates are guarded 24 hours a day. Inside the gates are private parks, walking paths and a lake park.

Before you write an offer we pull the association documents for that specific home, including the current dues, the budget and reserves and the rules. Dues on a listing sheet are typed in by the listing agent and are often out of date.

Most homes in The Crosby are in the San Dieguito Union High School District. A few on the east side are in Poway Unified. Schools are set by address so we confirm them for each home you're serious about.
