Del Mar Country Club · Rancho Santa Fe

Rancho Santa Fe, 92067
Del Mar Country Club is a small guard-gated community of about 105 custom homes on the west side of Rancho Santa Fe, close to the beaches and the Del Mar racetrack. Most were built in the late 1990s by builders like Danny Hampel and Weir Brothers in Mediterranean, Traditional and Country French styles. They sit along the fairways and up the hillsides of a quiet valley, most on half an acre to an acre and a half.
What I tell buyers is that homes here rarely come up. When one does, what's been done to it since it was built tells you most of what you need to know about the price. A few have been taken to the studs and rebuilt in recent years. If you golf, the private club is a separate decision from buying the home.

The club is privately owned by Madeleine Pickens. She bought it in 1993 with her late husband Allen Paulson, who founded Gulfstream Aerospace. After buying the club she developed the course and its landscaping around a 55,000 square foot clubhouse.
The 18-hole course was designed by Joseph Lee. It winds through the valley past streams, lakes and waterfalls and has five sets of tees. Members don't book tee times. The club's policy is that you show up and play when you're ready. Dogs are welcome on the course too.
Off the course there are tennis courts lit for night play and four pickleball courts. There's also a Junior Olympic pool, two fitness centers and a double-sided driving range with target greens. The club runs two restaurants, the Safari Club and the Butterscotch Lounge. Much of the produce comes from its own organic garden.

For any home you're serious about we pull the association documents before you write an offer. That gets you the current dues and the rules from the source. We don't go by the dues typed onto a listing sheet.
